Radio stations in the UK are regulated by law and GMG Radio is committed to ensuring full and complete compliance to all sections of licensee requirements. The statutory regulator for all UK radio broadcast is OFCOM which awards licences and regulates content in accordance with the Broadcast Code.
All GMG Radio stations strive to operate within the conditions of its licence and the Code at all times and welcomes comments about its output.

OFCOM also requires that we maintain a Public File which contains information about the provision of the Licensed Services in accordance with guidelines as drawn up and from time to time revised by OFCOM. Listen on-line right now anywhere in the UK by clicking-on listen live. In the North East we're on DAB and FM - our two main frequencies are 97.5 (for the Northern part of our coverage area) and 107.7 (for the Southern part). Around Hexham and Corbridge find us on 101.2 - and parts of Gateshead and Newcastle are best covered by our 107.5 transmitter.

AN EASY LISTENING STATION FEATURING MELODIC MUSIC FROM THE PAST SIX DECADES AND TODAY MIXED WITH LIFESTYLE ORIENTED SPEECH, PRIMARILY TARGETING LISTENERS IN THE NORTH EAST AGED 50 PLUS, WITH AT LEAST 10 HOURS OF IDENTIFIABLE SPECIALIST MUSIC PROGRAMMES EACH WEEK.

At least hourly during daytime weekdays and peak-time weekends, unless the service broadcast under the licence is an Approved Version of the Service, in which case news bulletins, some of which may be local, will be broadcast at least hourly at peak time weekdays and weekends. Outside peak, UK-wide, nations and international news should feature.

Programming
Studio location:
Locally-made programming must be produced within the licensed area.
Locally-made hours:
At least 7 hours a day during daytime weekdays (must include breakfast) and
at least 4 hours daytime Saturdays and Sundays, unless the service broadcast under the licence is an Approved Version of the Service, in which case no programming need be locally-made.
Programme sharing:
All programming may be shared between the services provided under the licences for the East Midlands (AL277), the North West (AL164), the West Midlands (AL265), London (AL039) and the North East (AL311), provided that the service broadcast under each licence is an Approved Version of the Service and complies with the character of service described above.
