Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We are a source of support: providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support. We are a force for change: listening to people affected by cancer and working together for better cancer care.

People need practical support at home, so we provide anything from some precious time off for a carer, to a lift to hospital. People need emotional support, so we listen, advise and share information though our phone service, website and trained professionals.

People need financial help to cope with the extra costs cancer can bring, so we give benefits advice, and grants for anything from heating bills to travel costs. Together we listen, we learn, we act to help people live with cancer.

"In the North East area Macmillan Cancer Support needs to continue raising much needed funds to provide Macmillan Cancer Support’s services locally. This would not be possible without the support of organisations such as Smooth radio and its listeners by taking part in such an initiative as the Starlight Supper. We want to thank each and everyone who registers to take part and thank them for helping us provide support to so many people affected by cancer"
